About NAYMH

Championing Mental Health, Breaking Stigma

Why We Exist

In many immigrant and refugee communities, mental health struggles — from trauma to suicidal ideation — are met with silence instead of support. Stigma, language barriers, and cultural pressure can make it difficult to identify the issue, to seek help, or locate resources.

NAYMH strives to change that — not only by bringing in outside experts to guide our communities, but by also involving the youth who already belong to them. We believe youth are uniquely qualified to build the trust, language, and safe spaces our communities need to start healing.

What We Do

We equip young people with the skills, language, and confidence to lead mental health conversations in our communities.

  • Build: Youth-led safe spaces where topics ranging from everyday stress to trauma and suicidal ideation can be discussed openly — rooted in culture, not clinical distance.
  • Sustain: We connect youth leaders with mentorship, resources, and each other, so the safe spaces they build last.
