- Eating disorders are marked by severe disturbances in a person’s eating habits. Some may be fixated on their weight, body shape, or appearance. Eating disorders can affect a person’s physical or mental health and in some cases, can even be life-threatening.
- Anorexia Nervosa: People avoid food or eat very small quantities of food. May also weigh themselves repeatedly and see themselves as overweight even when they are underweight.
- Bulimia Nervosa: episodes of eating unusually large amounts of food and feeling a lack of control on one’s eating habits. This disorder can be fatal
- Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID): Limiting the amount or type of food that is being eaten. It is usually common in children. Children who have ARFID usually do not eat enough calories to develop properly.
